The least objectionable current Midi Controller that I can tolerate the keybed feel of is the Novation Impulse (the Akai Pro 88 with weighted keys is, of course, more favorable, but I need a more portable, less expensive unit at this point, viz, 61 keys).
The stuff I write has individual parts: sax, trumpet, piano, guitar, bass, various drums, etc. Way hipper than music school in the 70's where we waited for the cats to play the parts after staying up all night transposing then by hand. This means that I use Sib 7 as "magic score paper," first hearing in my head what I want to write, then writing it, then hearing it, then re-writing it, etc.
